Ceramic runners and filters are used to ensure cleanliness of the metal in the Gould. The induction furnaces are designed to tilt backwards for slag removal, prior to forward tilting for tapping out over a clean lip. Castings are heat treated in one of the LC controlled gas ovens with multiple thermocouples connected to a print recorder for monitoring temperatures of individual castings inside the furnace.
